EEA countries take the lion share of Icelandic exports. The Netherlands has always been the largest trading partner, mainly due to its importance as a logistic hub.  The Top 10 countries takes about 79.35% of its total exports in 2019.

China surpassed Japan to become the biggest Asian market for Icelandic products in 2017.  It has maintained the Top 9 biggest market for Iceland consecutively in the past 3 years.  Seafood always take the biggest share in the exports, but the variety of export item has been expanding and the value of manufactured products increasing.

Icelandic export has maintained stready growth ever since 2008.  The total value of exports of goods in 2019 was ISK 39.1 billion higher (6.5%) than in the same period the year before, at current rates of exchange. 

Exported manufacturing products contributed 47.9% of total exported goods and their value was 4.3% lower than last year. Marine products contributed 40.6% of the total exports and their value was 8.5% higher than in 20181. The largest increase was due to the exports of marine products, mainly fresh fish and frozen fish fillets. On the other hand there was a decrease in the export of aluminium.
